Killarney Convention Centre is a purpose-built international conference and event venue with 4,500m2 of space, catering for conferences of 25 to 2,500 delegates. Two hotel properties onsite provide 500 rooms with an additional 2000 rooms within a mile. The Killarney Conference Centre is Ireland’s largest dedicated conference and events venue. Serviced by three airports, Killarney is also only a forty minute flight from Dublin and close to Shannon and Cork airports. Indeed, you can get from Cork International Airport to Killarney quicker than crossing Dublin City by car.

We worked with the team at the Killarney Convention Centre to build an app to position the Killarney Convention Centre as one of Ireland's most ideal conference venues. The app includes detailed 3D floorplans of the meeting and event spaces. Video Testimonials from Conference Organisers, Delegates and Attendees can be played within the App. Each Hotel has its own section covering Accommodation, Leisure & Dining. A section on Killarney includes key information on the Town, Historic Sites and areas of local interest.

As a large conference venue our iPad sales app is the perfect tool to engage with prospective clients. It allows us to communicate the limitless flexibility and scale of our venue in a far more captivating way than the traditional linear presentation. The Gibson Hotel is part of Choice Hotel Group Ireland, the leading hotel operator in the country. The hotel is located beside the 02 Arena in Dublin’s point village and since its opening in 2009 it has hosted numerous high profile events and even the White House Press corps.

We worked closely with the Gibson hotel to develop an interactive sales application for the iPad. The iPad is without doubt the most compelling presentation tool and with the right content, an iPad can help to close sales better than any powerpoint or brochure presentation.

The iPad changes the game, fundamentally. Just imagine being able to sit in front of a customer and tap through the different meeting rooms types you have to hire out. You create a quotation on the spot, tapping through room sizes, extras and other configuration variants. Tap a button to calculate pricing and include customer specific discounts.

And then you close the sales order. Simple.

Incredible Detail

3D images are used to showcase the Gibson Hotel meeting and event facilities helping to communicate the scale and style of the venue. Great attention to detail was used to make theses 3D graphics as realistic as possible re-creating the same colours and fabrics used in the rooms. Layout icons allow the users to navigate between the different room styles and giving an accurate picture of the capacities of each room.

The intended use for the app product is to help close large conference, meeting and event sales. For this we focused on creating a clean, simple interface to showcase the hotel’s large open spaces and facilities.

"iPad - The Perfect Sales Tool"

The iPad is without doubt the best sales presentation tool available with massive potential for businesses, especially for those with a physical product. We worked closely with Choice Hotels Ireland to develop an interactive sales tool on the iPad for their sales team.

Our goal was to produce a sales application with emphasis on conference, event & meeting business, given that this area is not well served by traditional websites or powerpoint presentations. Most large conference or meeting room sales are closed face-to-face and often the sales teams are using out-dated laptop presentations or brochures.

3D Visuals

We came up with the idea of taking the idea of showing floor plans to the next level and re-creating then in full 3D models across each layout style: Theatre, Classroom, Boardroom, U-Shape, Banquet. This meant creating each room type to its exact dimension, capacities and decor. This meant taking numerous photos of each room type in every layout and recreating each room type in 3D.

Easy Navigation

Layout icons are used as a navigation tool to allow the user to switch between the different room layouts and view the capacity of each room type across the various layout styles. This is a dramatic improvement on the traditional capacity grids used by many businesses to illustrate room sizes and capabilities. Our 3D team worked extremely hard on making the rooms as photo-realistic as possible. We set out to re-create the textures and patterns in the furniture, flooring and curtains so that each room was as close to the real thing but better. 3D images help to communicate the space and capacity far better than traditional photographs or video.

The Results

Since the application has been put into use, we have learnt from the client that event organisers are requesting copies of the 3D images to help them plan their events. This is especially useful for banquet organisers who can use 3D images for seating plans.

The iPad was Steve Jobs' last great invention and is without doubt the best sales presentation tool available. When we developed our iPad sales app product, we knew it would be perfect for Croke Park, the 4th Largest Stadium in Europe and home of the GAA.

We worked closely with Croke Park over a number of weeks to create a sales tool for the iPad covering all key areas of the stadium including Conferences, Events, Tours, Weddings and more.

The application is split into a number of sections to allow the presenter to decide where to start and end. A clean and simple interface was designed to make it extremely simple to jump into any section of the app following the natural path of the sales conversation. Each section also has its own Gallery with carefully chosen photos and video content.

This meant working extremely closely with the Gibson's sales and marketing team to develop and implement an online marketing strategy that would make use of the tools at their disposal.

When we decided on an opening promotional offer for The Gibson Hotel, we really never expected the ROI to be as big as it was, over 3000%. If there is one thing we have learned when using this medium to promote our hotels, is that you need to have a clear message: a great offer, call to action & online booking facility. With the help of Visrez we have achieved all of these, and the proof is in the bookings.

Online Marketing Strategy & Website

Our first challenge was to showcase the product while streamlining the booking process as much as possible. For the website we used large banner areas to make the most of the excellent photos of the hotel while keeping the overall design as clean as possible. Clear calls to action and eye catching graphics are used throughout. The booking process is as shallow as we could possibly manage, meaning that visitors do not have to go digging through the site to find the information they are looking for. All this is wrapped up in our custom built Content Management System meaning that the hotel marketing team can update the site themselves whenever they need to.

Email Marketing

The Gibson understood that being able to deliver time-sensitive, pertinent and informative marketing messages, whilst improving marketing ROI was an absolute necessity to ensure the success of their newly opened hotel. We started by working with the marketing and sales teams to identify the needs and concerns of the target audience. Then we implemented techniques that would spur customers to take action by concentrating on communications that prompted a reaction. To finish it off we designed a lovely template that tied in with the website design and slotted it into our easy to use email marketing platform.

Social Media Strategy

An effective social media strategy was imperative from Day 1 for the new hotel and we worked with the Gibson to help them understand that employing social media in the marketing mix is a long-term commitment. For us it was key to make sure that the whole team, from managers to floor staff, believed in social media and that the first goal was not to sell, sell, sell but rather that testing and experimentation are the keys to success.

The Results

In the first year of trading we helped the Gibson achieve a 10,623.81% Return On Investment through their online marketing channels. Key to this was helping them understand that an Online Marketing Strategy is essential, and that their website, email marketing and social medias, such as Facebook, are only the tools to drive that strategy. Without an over-arching online strategy supported from the top down by management, you are simply pushing buttons in the dark.

Analysis

We worked closely with Malone Lodge throughout the site’s design and build. Once the site wireframe was agreed, two design options were developed and presented that integrated the high quality photography that the hotel had commissioned.

We added a few new features into this build that reflected the clients demands. In the backend of the Content Management System, the client is now able to change the background colour of the website, as well as having the option of showing the banner or not. This last feature was developed specifically in relation to future email marketing campaigns, whereby the banner might detract from the message being sent out to the Hotel's customers.

The Results

he new design of the website was carefully developed to incorporate the new marketing material being used by Malone Lodge, thereby strengthening the hotel’s brand appeal. The hotel is now able to provide much more useful and current information to it's customers, allowing for stronger brand integrity, and ultimately, a measureable increase in web-based bookings, following a steady rise in targeted traffic.

It has also lead to the bounce rate on the website being cut in half, as a result of providing users with a logical path through the site until booking completion.

The RAF Club in London needed their website to be integrated with their offline Micros Fidelios system, no small feat. Luckily for them they came to us as we are the worldwide pioneers when it comes to integrating websites with Micros.

In conjunction with our Hotel Impact partners in the UK (if you need a flexible and affordable Micros system get in touch with them!) we developed a bespoke system that "talks" with the RAF Club's offline reservation system, in turn streamlining their whole reservations system management and giving them total control of their online booking channel.

What Does It Do For RAF...

Our system eliminates the headache of managing separate systems. All Rates, Availability & Allocations are centrally managed in Opera. Our system syncs directly with Opera to allow them to deliver real-time availability on their website.

Payment detail is automatically entered in Opera with customer booking references. Promotional codes can be assigned in Opera and this allows guests to book directly against those allocations via their website.
